One day, many years ago, a high school math teacher sat down on his couch with a cup of coffee and decided to make a basic calculator...and jCalc – Calculator 1.0 was created. However, the developer knew that access to mathematics through a scientific calculator would be much more powerful and useful, so he redesigned jCalc with the intent of creating a scientific calculator that presents math in a clear and meaningful way. On his whiteboard, he began listing all of the features he would like a scientific calculator to have (Yes, he has a whiteboard in his living room...which came in handy when he moved to online learning due to COVID). He started from scratch, and one by one he began adding the features, knowing he was possibly in over his head and taking many more years than anticipated, though always enjoying the frustratingly-satisfying process of coding...and then jCalc – Calculator 2.0 was created. jCalc is unlike any other scientific calculator and he hopes you enjoy using it as much as he has enjoyed developing it.
"You're unlikely to discover something new without a lot of practice on old stuff, but further, you should get a heck of a lot of fun out of working out funny relations and interesting things."
–Richard P. Feynman
